With its headquarters in La defense Courbevoie, West of Paris, France, it is a French multinational integrated oil and gas company and ranks with the top seven major oil companies in Nigeria. Its operations cover the entire oil and gas chain ranging from crude oil, natural gas exploration and production, power generation, transportation, refining, petroleum product marketing as well as international crude oil and product trading.


Nigeria’s state oil corporation established on April 1, 1977. With refineries constructed in Warri, Kaduna and Port Harcourt, it is involved in the production, marketing, refining and transportation of both oil and gas related substances. It also has subsidiaries like NPDC, NGC, PPMC, IDSL, NETCO, HVSON, KRPC, PHRC, NNPC retail, Duke Oil. It is also regulated by the DPR a department within the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

Forte Oil

An indigenous energy group located in Lagos, Nigeria with extended operations in Ghana. It also operates majorly in the downstream sector of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. It also has diversified businesses with its downstream division which specializes in the distribution of petroleum products, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), diesel, aviation fuel, kerosene as well as a range of lubricants for various automobiles and machines distributed mostly to the automobile, industrial, aviation and marine markets.


Royal Dutch Shell plc commonly called Shell is British Dutch oil and Gas Company headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in the United Kingdom. It is actively involved in the area of oil and gas including exploration and production, refining, transport, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation and trading.


Oando PLC is one of Africa’s largest integrated energy solutions provider with a proud heritage with a major listing on the Nigeria Stock Exchange and a secondary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The group comprises four other subsidiaries namely Oando Energy Resources, Oando Trading, Oando Gas & Power, OVH Energy.


An American multinational energy corporation headquartered in San Ramon, California and active in more than 180 countries. It is also engaged in every aspect of the oil, natural gas and geothermal energy industries ranging from hydrocarbon exploration and production, refining, marketing and transport, chemicals manufacturing and sales and power generation. Its operations include downstream products like lubricants, additives and sell products such as fuel and petrochemicals.


Founded in 1927 with headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria, Conoil PLC is a Nigerian petroleum marketing company which deals in the sale of diesel, aviation fuel and low pour fuel. It is also involved in the production and marketing of lubricants under the brand name, Quatro. It is the first company to market petroleum products in bulk.

11 PLC

Formerly known as Mobil Oil Nigeria, it changed the name to 11 PLC in May 2017. One of the six major petroleum product marketers in Nigeria with over 250 outlets in 36 states. It is also a sole distributor of Mobil Fuel and lubricant brands.

Exxon Mobil

Founded November 30, 1999, by a merger of Standard Oil Company of New Jersey and Mobil (Standard Oil Company of New York). ExxonMobil is an American multinational oil and gas corporation headquartered in Irving, Texas. It is one of the largest of the world’s big oil companies. Its primary brands are Exxon, Mobil, Esso and ExxonMobil Chemical.


Fatgbems Petroleum Company Limited is a member of Fatgbems Group and was incorporated as an independent petroleum marketing company under the late founder, Alhaji Fatai Gbemisola in November 1994. It started retail station services operations with a fuel service station in Ejigbo, Lagos in 2006.


Ascon Oil Company Limited (Ascon Oil) was incorporated on 4th December 1984 and started business in the petroleum downstream sector of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry in 1985. It also started operations initially in Kano and got its NNPC/PPMC bulk purchase agreement signed in 1988 as an Independent petroleum products marketer. Ascon has major offices in Port Harcourt, Warri, Kano and Abuja.

Eterna Plc

Founded on the 13th of January 1989 as Eterna Oil & Gas Limited and commenced business in 1991. Re-registered as a public limited Company in 1997, Eterna Plc is an operator in the nation’s downstream oil sector. It has a technical trading relationship with Castrol BP in 1991, pioneers in global lubricant technology and specialty chemicals to boost and distribute reliable, efficient and high-quality lubricants and oil products in Nigeria and the ECOWAS sub-region.

BP Plc

It is one of the world’s seven oil and gas supermajors. The company has around 18,300 service stations worldwide with its largest division in BP America in the United States.
