The Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr. Jeffrey Ewing, has said that the firm was impressed that its contribution to the educational sector was helping to raise quality manpower for the country
Ewing affirmed that the company was committed to supporting quality education in the country.
The managing director who also doubles as the oil giant’s chairman spoke recently in 2018 Awokoya memorial competition in Chemistry/award ceremony for secondary schools.
Mr. Ewing who was represented by Mr. Tony Emegere, PGPA Superintendent, said the competition was initiated by the NNPC/CNL joint venture to promote the study of the subject among secondary school students of Delta state and in memory of Professor Stephen Awokoya, a great chemist who died on March 15, 1985.
The competition ended with Ate Ovie Great of NEPA Staff secondary school, Sapele winning the first prize. The second prize went to Jack Gogo Ataisikup of Government College Ughelli while the third prize went to Oyawiri Martin of our Saviour secondary school, Sapele. Consolation prizes were given to some participating schools, teachers, and students.
