A significant discovery of oil has been made in Block 15/06 offshore Angola estimated to contain 450 million-650 million barrels of light oil in place with further upside, Eni said on Wednesday.
The discovery was made at the Agogo exploration prospect in Block 15/06 which feeds into its West Hub project.
It was the third oil discovery of a commercial nature by Eni at the block in the past 10 months. Eni discovered oil at Kalimba and Afoxe prospects last June and December, respectively, after exploration started last year at Block 15/06. Block 15/06 has proved lucrative for Eni and Angola.
Output at the block, which contains the N’Goma FPSO in West Hub and the Olombendo FPSO in East Hub, was around 160,000 b/d, according to S&P Global Platts estimates.
Last year, Eni started production from the Vandumbu field in Block 15/06 three months ahead of schedule, feeding the N’Goma FPSO, which came on stream in 2014 with the start of output from the Sangos field.
In May, Eni said its Ochigufu field in Block 15/06 had reached plateau production of 24,000 b/d, two months after coming on stream.
