Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu yesterday disclosed that the Federal Government together with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC would track every barrel of crude oil produced and exported out of the country.
The Minister made this known at the ongoing Nigeria International Petroleum Summit in Abuja.
Kachikwu said, “Today, for the first time, whatever you are producing in this country, as per when it is being produced – barrel for barrel, we can tell. We can also tell where it is going to for the purpose of discharge.
He further mentioned that the Department of Petroleum Resources were also finalizing plans on a forensic analysis that would reflected every vessel that goes in out of the country.
He said the government, through the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, would also extend the tracking to the downstream sector.
Meanwhile, commenting on the alleged move by House of Representatives to investigate him on funds generated from oil licenses renewal, he said that he was open to being probed adding that Federal Government had even generated $1.5bn from the process.
