The Nigerian Navy has recovered and handed over 3,181 jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol worth N11 million to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. This was made known by Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship, BEECROFT, Commodore Ibrahim Shettima while addressing journalists in Apapa, Lagos State.

In addition, Shettima said that the product was sourced from several vandalized points on the NNPC pipeline on the Atlas Cove Island adding that the discovery was a product of the Navy’s aggressive patrols.

He further mentioned that the navy under the leadership of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas was determined to rid Nigeria’s waterways of all forms of criminality.

He added saying “NNS BEECROFT is, therefore, committed to assisting NNPC and other agencies of government in dealing with the issues of pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft”.

Meanwhile, he warned pipeline vandals and other criminals particularly in the maritime environment to desist from nefarious activities and pursue lawful means of livelihood, warning that the navy would continue to hunt them.
